How To Make Caramelised Carrots & Onions

This dish is a flavorful combination of caramelized carrots and onions, perfect as a side dish or topping for salads.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium carrots, peeled and sliced into thin rounds
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.

  2. Add the sliced carrots to the skillet and cook for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the carrots begin to caramelize and become tender.

  3. Sprinkle the brown sugar over the carrots and onions, and continue cooking for an additional 5 minutes, until the sugar has dissolved and the carrots and onions are golden brown and caramelized.

  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  5. Remove from heat and transfer to a serving dish. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
