Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 onion, diced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 sheets of puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
-
In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned.
-
Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the onion is softened.
-
Stir in the cumin, paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for another minute to allow the flavors to meld together.
-
Remove the skillet from heat and let the meat mixture cool slightly.
-
Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Use a round cutter to cut out circles from the pastry sheets.
-
Place a spoonful of the meat mixture onto each pastry circle, leaving a small border around the edges.
-
Fold the pastry over to enclose the filling and seal the edges with a fork.
-
Place the pastelillos onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
-
Brush the tops of the pastelillos with the beaten egg wash.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastelillos are golden brown and crisp.
-
Serve warm and enjoy!
