Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup ice water
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
-
In a skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic, and cook until vegetables are soft.
-
Stir in Cajun seasoning, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook for another 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
-
In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in the cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
-
Gradually add ice water, tossing with a fork until dough forms a ball. Divide dough into 8 equal portions.
-
On a lightly floured surface, roll each portion into a 6-inch circle. Place a spoonful of meat mixture onto one half of each circle.
-
Fold dough over filling and press edges together to seal. Using a fork, crimp the edges of each pie.
-
In a deep skillet, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry pies, a few at a time, for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
-
Remove pies from oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
