How To Make Blackberry Jelly
Jelly desserts don’t always have to mean ordinary gelatin dishes in cups. With our tasty jelly recipes, a jelly dessert will make you become the talk of the town before you know it.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 cups fresh blackberries
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 packet powdered pectin
Instructions
-
In a large saucepan, combine the blackberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Mash the blackberries with a fork or potato masher.
-
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. Cook for 10 minutes, or until the mixture has thickened slightly.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the pectin with 1/4 cup water. Add the pectin mixture to the saucepan and continue to cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
-
Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Skim off any foam that has formed on the surface.
-
Pour the jelly into clean, sterilized jars and seal with lids. Let the jelly cool completely before storing in the refrigerator.
-
The jelly will continue to thicken as it cools. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 months.
