How To Make Black Forest Torte Recipe

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 can cherry pie filling
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and line a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the butter mixture, alternating with milk. Stir in vanilla extract.

Pour batter into prepared cake pan and bake for 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Let the cake cool completely before slicing it into two layers.

Whip cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Spread half of the cream on the bottom layer of the cake and then spoon the cherry pie filling on top. Place the second layer of cake on top and spread the remaining cream on the top and sides.

Garnish with chocolate shavings and extra cherries. Chill before serving.
