How To Make Italian Creme Cake

An incredibly creamy and moist Italian creme cake that's perfect for those slow Saturday afternoons! A quick and easy cream cake recipe that'll only take less than an hour to make. Light and moist cake base smothered with delicious cream cheese frosting for a decadent dessert experience.

  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 1 stick butter
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 5 egg yolks
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • pinch salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup Angel Flake coconut
  • 5 egg whites (beaten until stiff)

Crème Cheese Frosting:

  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 stick butter (melted )
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 cup pecans
  • 2 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  1. Beat Crisco and butter well.
  2. Add sugar gradually and cream well.
  3. Add one egg yolk at a time, beating well.
  4. Sift together flour, baking soda, salt.
  5. Add alternately with buttermilk.
  6. Stir in coconut.
  7. Fold egg whites into batter.
  8. Pour into three 9″ greased floured cake pans.
  9. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
  10. Cool before frosting.
  11. To make frosting, using a mixer, mix until smooth.
  12. Frost cooled cake.
