Kings Hawaiian Sweet and Sour Meatballs Recipe
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup diced pineapple
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp water
- 2 scallions, thinly sliced for garnish
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 400°F.
-
In a bowl, mix together ground beef, Panko breadcrumbs, milk, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
-
Roll mixture into 1.5 inch meatballs and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
-
Bake for 15-20 minutes until fully cooked.

While the meatballs are cooking, make the sauce: In a medium-sized saucepan, combine diced pineapple, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, ketchup, and soy sauce. Bring mixture to a boil and reduce heat to low, simmering for 10 minutes.

In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water. Add mixture to the saucepan and stir until the sauce thickens, about 2 minutes.
-
Add cooked meatballs to the saucepan and toss to coat.
-
Garnish with thinly sliced scallions before serving.
