How To Make Hole Mole’s Tres Leches Cake
Classic Latin American dessert, moist sponge cake soaked in three types of milk and topped with whipped cream and fruit.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 4 eggs, separated
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/3 cup whole milk
- 1 can evaporated milk
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Fruit for topping (optional)
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 350°F.
-
In a medium bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
-
In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
-
In another bowl, beat egg yolks and sugar until light and fluffy. Add in whole milk and vanilla extract.
-
Fold in sifted dry ingredients into egg yolk mixture.
-
Gently fold in the egg whites until just combined.
-
Pour batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
-
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

While cake is baking, mix together evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and heavy cream in a bowl.
-
Once cake is done, allow it to cool for 10 minutes and then poke holes all over the cake with a fork.
-
Pour the milk mixture over the cake and let it soak in for at least 30 minutes or overnight in the refrigerator.
-
Before serving, top with whipped cream and fruit if desired.
