How To Make Hole Mole’s Tamale Recipe
A traditional Mexican dish made of masa, filled with meats, cheese, vegetables, and chilies; wrapped in corn husks and steamed to perfection.

Ingredients
- 1 package dried corn husks
- 4 cups masa harina
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup vegetable shortening
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 2 cups cooked and shredded pork
- 1 cup cheddar cheese
- 1 cup diced green chilies
Instructions

Soak corn husks in warm water for at least an hour.

In a large bowl, mix masa harina, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate bowl, beat vegetable shortening until fluffy.

Add masa mixture to shortening, alternating with chicken broth, until a dough forms.

In another bowl, mix pork, cheese, and chilies.

To assemble tamales, spread 2 heaping tablespoons of dough onto a husk, leaving a border around edges.

Add 2 tablespoons of filling onto center of dough.

Wrap tamale tightly in husk and secure ends.

Place tamale in steamer and steam for 1 to 2 hours until dough is firm and separates easily from husk.
