How To Make Blue Ribbon Apple Pie

Ingredients
- 2 refrigerated pie crusts
- 6 cups thinly sliced apples
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp water
- Coarse sugar (optional)
Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Unroll pie crusts and press one into a 9-inch pie dish. Reserve the other crust.

In a large bowl, mix together sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined. Pour mixture into prepared crust.

Cut butter into small pieces and sprinkle over the apple filling. Drizzle lemon juice over the top.

Unroll the second pie crust and cut into strips. Create a lattice crust on top of the apple filling.

Beat egg with water and brush over the top crust. Sprinkle with coarse sugar, if desired.

Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbly.

Let cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
