How To Make Sourdough Tortillas

A delicious and healthy alternative to regular tortillas, made with sourdough starter.

Preparation: 30 minutes
Cooking: 15 minutes
Total: 45 minutes



  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup water


  1. In a bowl, mix together the sourdough starter, flour, and salt.

  2. Slowly add the water while kneading the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic.

  3. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.

  4. Divide the dough into 8 equal parts and roll them into balls.

  5. Dust a work surface with flour and roll each ball into a thin, round tortilla shape.

  6. In a dry skillet, cook each tortilla for about 30 seconds on each side or until they begin to lightly brown.

  7. Serve warm.
