How To Make Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls
Soft and fluffy cinnamon rolls made with sourdough starter, perfect for breakfast or brunch.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 cup active sourdough starter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, milk, sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt. Mix well.
-
Add the flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition until a dough forms.
-
Knead the dough for 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a damp cloth. Let it rise for 2-3 hours.
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 12×16 inches.
-
Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough, leaving a small gap around the edges.
-
Mix the sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle over the butter.
-
Roll up the dough tightly, starting from the long edge. Pinch the seam to seal, and cut into 12 even slices.
-
Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another hour.
-
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
-
Serve warm and enjoy!
