How To Make White Sourdough Bread
Serves:
Ingredients
- 500g bread flour
- 350g water
- 100g active sourdough starter
- 10g salt
Instructions
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, water, and sourdough starter. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
-
Allow the dough to rest for 30 minutes. This helps the gluten develop.
-
After the rest, add the salt and mix until fully incorporated.
-
Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise at room temperature for 2 hours.
-
After the first rise, perform a series of stretch and folds every 30 minutes for the next hour. This strengthens the dough.
-
Shape the dough into a round boule and place it in a proofing basket. Let it proof for 1 hour.
-
Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) with a Dutch oven inside.
-
Carefully transfer the proofed dough into the preheated Dutch oven, cover with the lid, and bake for 20 minutes.
-
Remove the lid and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes until the bread is golden brown.
-
Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool completely before slicing.
