Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 45 minutes
Total: 60 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 400g strong white bread flour
  • 7g fast-action yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 300ml warm water

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and salt. Gradually add the warm water and mix until a soft dough forms.

  2. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

  3. Place the dough back into the mixing bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

  4. Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F) and place a clay pot inside to heat up.

  5. Once the dough has risen, carefully remove the hot clay pot from the oven and place the dough inside. Cover with the pot lid and return it to the oven.

  6. Bake for 30 minutes covered, then remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

  7. Remove the bread from the pot and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing. Serve warm with butter or your favorite toppings.
