Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 stalk celery, diced
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 oz pasta, cooked and drained
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.

  3. Add the onion, garlic, carrot, and celery to the skillet. Cook for 5 minutes, until vegetables are tender.

  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.

  5. In a 9×13 inch baking dish, layer half of the cooked pasta, followed by half of the Bolognese sauce. Repeat layers.

  6. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese over the top.

  7. Bake for 25 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.

  8. Serve hot and enjoy!
