How To Make Quick Sausage Bolognese Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 celery stalk, diced
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 8 oz spaghetti, cooked according to package instructions
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat until browned, breaking it up into crumbles with a spoon. Remove the cooked sausage from the skillet and set aside.

  2. In the same skillet, add the diced onion, minced garlic, diced carrot, and diced celery. Cook for 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened.

  3. Return the cooked sausage to the skillet and stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, dried basil, and dried oregano. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. Serve the sausage bolognese sauce over cooked spaghetti. Top with grated Parmesan cheese and garnish with fresh basil leaves.
