  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust for desired spice level)
  • 1 can (14 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1/2 cup chicken or seafood broth
  • 1 pound mixed seafood (shrimp, scallops, squid, etc.)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Cook until the onion is translucent and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.

  2. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, soy sauce, brown sugar, lime juice, and broth to the skillet. Stir to combine all the ingredients.

  3. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

  4. Add the seafood to the skillet and cook until they are opaque and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes, depending on the size of the seafood.

  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  6. Serve the spicy seafood sauce over cooked rice or noodles.

  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with lime wedges.
