  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir well to combine.

  3. Add the dried oregano, dried basil, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.

  4. Bring the sauce to a simmer and reduce the heat to low. Let it cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  5. Stir in the sugar to balance the acidity of the tomatoes.

  6. Remove the sauce from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and well combined.

  7. Allow the marinara sauce to cool slightly before serving.
