Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 slices of white bread, crusts removed and torn into small pieces
- 2 cups of whole milk
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 4 tablespoons of butter
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
-
In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic and cook until softened.
-
Add the torn bread pieces to the pan and stir to combine with the onion and garlic mixture.
-
Pour in the milk slowly, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
-
Reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the bread is soft and the sauce has thickened.
-
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it cool slightly. Use an immersion blender or a regular blender to blend the sauce until smooth and creamy.
-
Season with ground nutmeg, salt, and pepper to taste. Serve hot with roast meats.
