Total: 30 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of white bread, crusts removed and torn into small pieces
  • 2 cups of whole milk
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 4 tablespoons of butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic and cook until softened.

  2. Add the torn bread pieces to the pan and stir to combine with the onion and garlic mixture.

  3. Pour in the milk slowly, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

  4. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the bread is soft and the sauce has thickened.

  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it cool slightly. Use an immersion blender or a regular blender to blend the sauce until smooth and creamy.

  6. Season with ground nutmeg, salt, and pepper to taste. Serve hot with roast meats.
