How To Make Spiced Lentil Soup Recipe

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup red lentils
  • 4 cups vegetable broth
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)


  1. heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and sauté until translucent.

  2. Add cumin, coriander, paprika, and cayenne and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. Add lentils and vegetable broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for 30-40 minutes until lentils are tender.

  4. Season with salt, black pepper, and lemon juice.

  5. Use an immersion blender to blend the soup until smooth.

  6. Serve hot and garnish with fresh cilantro.
