  • 2 lbs of beef roast
  • 4 banana shallots, peeled and halved
  • 1 cup of red wine
  • 2 cups of beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C).

  2. Season the beef roast with salt and pepper on all sides.

  3. Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet or roasting pan over medium-high heat.

  4. Sear the beef roast on all sides until browned, about 5 minutes per side.

  5. Remove the beef roast from the skillet and set aside.

  6. Add the banana shallots to the skillet and cook until lightly caramelized, about 5 minutes.

  7. Deglaze the skillet with red wine, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom.

  8. Return the beef roast to the skillet and add the beef broth.

  9. Cover the skillet with a lid or aluminum foil and place in the preheated oven.

  10. Roast the beef for about 2 hours or until it reaches your desired level of doneness.

  11. Remove the skillet from the oven and let the roast beef rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

  12. Serve the roast beef with the red wine and banana shallots sauce.
