Ingredients
- 2 cups of basmati rice
- 1 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- Salt, to taste
- 4 cups of water
Instructions

Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain and set aside.

In a large skillet, heat ghee over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.

Add diced onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger to the skillet. Saute until the onions are translucent.

Add the rinsed basmati rice and stir well to coat it with the spices.

Add salt and water to the skillet. Bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and fluffy.

Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
