A savory yet slightly sweet dish filled with anise and ricotta cheese, stuffed into jumbo pasta shells and baked to gooey perfection.

Ingredients

  • 12 jumbo pasta shells
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp anise extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1/4 cup grated mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

  2. Cook the pasta shells according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.

  3. In a medium bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, anise extract, salt, and black pepper.

  4. Stuff each pasta shell with the ricotta mixture and place them in a 9×13 inch baking dish.

  5. Pour the marinara sauce over the stuffed shells.

  6. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.

  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
