Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup cherry jam
  • 1/2 cup almond meal
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the cold butter and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to mix until crumbly.

  3. Slowly add the cold water, a little at a time, and mix until the dough comes together.

  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut out rounds using a cookie cutter or a glass.

  5. Place half of the dough rounds onto the greased baking dish. Spread a teaspoon of cherry jam onto each dough round.

  6. Sprinkle almond meal over the cherry jam, then top with the remaining dough rounds. Press the edges together to seal.

  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.

  8. Allow the buns to cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
