Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp almond extract
  • 1/4 cup ground pistachios
  • 1 cup black cherries, pitted
  • 1/2 cup almond meal
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a food processor, combine the flour, butter, sugar, and almond extract. Pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  3. Press the mixture into a tart pan, covering the bottom and sides evenly.

  4. Spread the ground pistachios evenly over the crust.

  5. Arrange the black cherries on top of the pistachios.

  6. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the almond meal, powdered sugar, eggs, heavy cream, and salt until well combined.

  7. Pour the mixture over the cherries, making sure to cover them completely.

  8. Bake for 40 minutes, or until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown.

  9. Allow the tart to cool before serving. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.
