How To Make Boulangère Potatoes
Classic French dish featuring thinly sliced potatoes baked in a flavorful broth and topped with golden breadcrumbs.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 sprigs of fresh thyme
- 2 cups of vegetable or chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and garlic, and cook until softened and slightly caramelized.
-
Add the sliced potatoes to the skillet and toss to coat in the onion and garlic mixture. Season with salt and pepper.
-
Transfer the potato mixture to a baking dish, spreading it out evenly. Pour the broth over the potatoes, making sure they are fully submerged.
-
Place the fresh thyme sprigs on top of the potatoes. Cover the baking dish with foil.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden.
-
Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
