  • 2 cups of water
  • 1/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of dark rum
  • Whipped cream (for serving)


  1. In a saucepan, bring water, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger to a simmer over medium heat. Stir until the sugar and butter are dissolved.

  2. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and rum.

  3. Ladle the hot spiced buttered rum into mugs and top with whipped cream.

  4. Serve hot and enjoy!
