How To Make Easy Birthday Cake

  • 3cupscake flour
  • cupswhite sugar
  • cupswater
  • ½cupshortening
  • tspbaking powder
  • tspvanilla extract
  • 1tspsalt

For Egg Substitute:

  • 3tbspwater
  • 2tspbaking powder
  • 3tbspvegetable oil


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour two 8-inch cake pans.

  2. Combine all egg substitute ingredients in a small bowl. Whisk until well combined.

  3. Combine the cake flour, sugar, water, shortening, baking powder, vanilla extract, and salt in a large bowl. Add the egg substitute and beat with an electric mixer for about 4 minutes until well mixed.

  4. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pans.

  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. Cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Run a table knife around the edges to loosen. Invert carefully onto a serving plate or cooling rack. Let cool completely before topping with choice of frosting.

  7. Serve and enjoy.
