  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup apricot preserves

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a round baking dish.

  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until well combined.

  5. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish. Arrange the sliced apples over the top, pressing them slightly into the batter.

  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  7. In a small saucepan, heat the apricot preserves over low heat until melted. Brush the melted preserves over the warm kuchen for a glossy finish.

  8. Allow the kuchen to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
