How To Make Indian Tofu Pulao Recipe

A fragrant one-pot meal with tofu, aromatic spices, and basmati rice.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 1 cup cubed tofu
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, minced
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 2 cups vegetable broth
  • 1/2 cup peas
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak the basmati rice in water for 15-20 minutes

  2. Heat oil in a pot and add cumin seeds.

  3. Once the seeds crackle, add sliced onions, minced garlic, and ginger. Saute until the onions turn golden brown.

  4. Add cubed tofu and fry for 3-4 minutes.

  5. Add coriander, turmeric, and cinnamon powder. Mix well.

  6. Drain the water from the soaked rice and add it to the pot.

  7. Add vegetable broth, peas, and salt to taste. Mix well.

  8. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the flame and let it cook until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.

  9. Serve hot with raita or any curry of your choice.
