How To Make Lumpia (Shanghai version)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup carrots, grated
  • 1 cup cabbage, shredded
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Lumpia wrappers
  • Cooking oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground pork, carrots, cabbage, onion, garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.

  2. Place a lumpia wrapper on a clean surface and spoon about 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture onto the wrapper.

  3. Roll the wrapper tightly, tucking in the sides as you go. Seal the edge with a bit of water.

  4. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.

  5. Heat cooking oil in a deep pan over medium heat.

  6. Fry lumpia in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5 minutes per side.

  7. Remove from the pan and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

  8. Serve hot with sweet and sour sauce or vinegar dipping sauce.
