How To Make Chinese Tofu Stir-Fry

A quick and easy stir-fry dish with flavors of soy sauce, garlic, and ginger.

Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 10 minutes
Total: 25 minutes

  • 14 oz firm tofu, pressed and cut into cubes
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Green onions, chopped, for garnish

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and water. Set aside.

  2. In a wok or large skillet, heat vegetable oil over high heat.

  3. Add tofu cubes and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until lightly browned. Remove from pan and set aside.

  4. In the same pan, add red and green bell peppers, onion, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until vegetables are slightly softened.

  5. Return tofu to the pan and add the soy sauce mixture. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce has thickened and tofu and vegetables are fully coated.

  6. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions.
