How To Make Instant Pot Vietnamese Pho Recipe

A classic Vietnamese noodle soup with beef broth, rice noodles, fresh herbs, and spices.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef bones
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 star anise
  • 1 tbsp coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1-inch ginger, sliced
  • 1 onion, halved
  • 4 garlic cloves, smashed
  • 6 cups water
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 8 oz rice noodles
  • 1/2 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • toppings: bean sprouts, basil, cilantro, lime wedges, hoisin sauce, sriracha

Instructions

  1. Roast beef bones in the oven at 400°F for 20 minutes until browned.

  2. Add bones, cinnamon stick, star anise, coriander seeds, fennel seeds, ginger, onion, garlic, and water to Instant Pot. Cook for 45 minutes on high pressure.

  3. Release pressure and strain broth. Add fish sauce and sugar to taste.

  4. Cook rice noodles according to package instructions. Divide among 4 bowls.

  5. Top noodles with beef slices and pour hot broth over it.

  6. Add desired toppings and serve hot.
