South African Malvapoeding (Marshmallow Pudding) Recipe

How To Make South African Malvapoeding (Marshmallow Pudding)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. In a separate small bowl, combine the milk and vinegar. Let it sit for 5 minutes to curdle.

  4. Add the curdled milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, and eggs to the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth.

  5. Pour the batter into the greased baking dish. Sprinkle the mini marshmallows evenly over the batter.

  6. In a saucepan, heat the hot water until boiling. Carefully pour the hot water over the batter and marshmallows.

  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the pudding is set.

  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm.
