How To Make Trio’s Margherita Pizza

A classic Neapolitan-style pizza featuring a simple tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella cheese, and fragrant basil leaves on a crisp homemade crust.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, torn
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Extra-virgin olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 500°F.

  2. Dust a baking sheet or pizza stone with flour and roll out the pizza dough to a thickness of about 1/4 inch.

  3. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the top of the dough, leaving a small border.

  4. Arrange the sliced mozzarella over the sauce.

  5. Sprinkle the pizza with red pepper flakes, garlic powder, and salt to taste.

  6. Drizzle with a little olive oil.

  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and crispy.

  8. Remove from the oven and top with fresh torn basil leaves.
