How To Make Spago’s Apple Tart Recipe
A delicious French-inspired apple tart with a flaky, buttery crust and thinly sliced, caramelized apples.

- -1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- –1/2 cup butter, chilled and chopped
- -2 tbsp granulated sugar
- -1/4 cup ice water
- -3 large Granny Smith apples
- -1/4 cup butter
- -1/2 cup granulated sugar
- -1/2 tsp cinnamon
- -1/4 tsp nutmeg
- -1/4 tsp salt
Instructions

To make the pastry, combine the flour, sugar, and chilled butter in a food processor and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs.

Add the ice water and pulse until the mixture comes together into a ball of dough.

Flatten the dough into a disc, cover with plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 375°F.

Roll the pastry out on a lightly floured surface to fit a 9-inch tart pan.

Peel and core the apples, then slice thinly.

Melt the butter in a large pan over medium heat.

Add the apple slices, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt and stir to combine.

Cook for 10-15 minutes until the apples are softened and caramelized.

Arrange the apple slices over the pastry in the tart pan, overlapping slightly.
