How To Make Joella’s Hot Chicken Recipe
A spicy chicken dish inspired by Nashville’s hot chicken.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp paprika
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup hot sauce
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions

Combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper in a bowl.

In another bowl, mix buttermilk and hot sauce.

Coat chicken in flour mixture, then buttermilk mixture, and then flour mixture again.

Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.

Fry chicken until cooked through and golden brown (about 6-8 minutes per side).

Remove from oil and let cool on a wire rack.

Serve with pickles and bread.
