Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup dried mixed fruit (such as raisins, cherries, and cranberries)
- 1/4 cup chopped pistachios
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a round cake pan.
-
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
-
Add the cold cubed butter to the dry ingredients and mix with your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
-
In a separate bowl, combine the milk and vanilla extract. Gradually add the milk mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
-
Fold in the dried mixed fruit and chopped pistachios.
-
Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for a few minutes until it comes together. Roll the dough into a long rope, about 2 inches thick.
-
Shape the rope into a circle and transfer to the greased cake pan, pinching the ends together to form a wreath shape.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
-
Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy!
