  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • ½ cup dried cranberries
  • ½ cup chopped almonds

  • In a saucepan, heat milk and butter until warm.

  • Add warm milk mixture, beaten eggs, and almond extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.

  • Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  • In the meantime, prepare the stollen filling by mixing dried cranberries, chopped almonds, and candied orange peel in a small bowl.

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).

  • Punch down the risen dough and roll it into a rectangle.

  • Spread the stollen filling evenly on the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

  • Roll the dough tightly from one long end to form a log-shaped babka.

  • Cut the babka in half lengthwise, exposing the filling.

  • Twist the two halves together to form a babka wreath. Place it on a greased baking sheet.

  • Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.

  • While the babka wreath is cooling, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled babka.
