How To Make Black Bean Hummus Recipe

A spin on traditional hummus made with black beans for a protein and fiber-packed dip.

  • 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional toppings: chopped cilantro, sliced jalapenos, extra drizzle of olive oil


  1. In a food processor, combine black beans, tahini, garlic, olive oil, lime juice, cumin, salt, and pepper.

  2. Blend until smooth and creamy.

  3. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.

  4. If the hummus is too thick, add a splash of water until desired consistency is achieved.

  5. Transfer to a bowl and top with optional toppings, if desired.

  6. Serve with pita chips, veggies, or crackers.
