How To Make Homemade Baked Beans Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 pound dried navy beans
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 3 cups water
- 2 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled (optional)
Instructions

Rinse the navy beans and remove any debris. Soak the beans overnight in water.

Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).

Drain the soaked beans and transfer them to a large pot. Add water, cover, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour.

In a separate bowl, mix together brown sugar, molasses, ketchup, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and onion powder.

Drain the partially cooked beans and return them to the pot. Add the sauce mixture and stir to combine.

Transfer the beans to a large baking dish or Dutch oven. Cover with a lid or foil and bake for 2 hours.

Remove the lid or foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until the beans are tender and the sauce has thickened.

If desired, sprinkle the cooked and crumbled bacon on top before serving.
