Ingredients

  • 1 pound dried navy beans
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups water
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

Instructions

  1. Soak the dried navy beans in water overnight. Drain and rinse the beans before using.

  2. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).

  3. In a large Dutch oven or oven-safe pot, combine the soaked beans, diced onions, minced garlic, brown sugar, molasses, tomato paste, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and water.

  4. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.

  5. Cover the pot and transfer it to the preheated oven.

  6. Bake for 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until the beans are tender and the sauce has thickened.

  7. Remove the pot from the oven and stir in the cooked and crumbled bacon.

  8. Serve the baked beans hot with your favorite main course or as a standalone meal.
