How To Make Chocolate Chip Easter Bread Recipe

A soft and fluffy sweet bread studded with chocolate chips, perfect for Easter brunch or celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 2 and 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk, lukewarm
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.

  2. Add lukewarm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix until just combined.

  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth.

  4. Add chocolate chips and knead until well incorporated.

  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover. Let it rise for 1 hour in a warm place.

  6. Once risen, punch the dough to deflate it.

  7. Divide the dough into 4 portions and shape into balls.

  8. Place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let them rest for 10 minutes.

  9. Brush with egg yolk and milk mixture.

  10. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.

  11. Cool on a wire rack before serving.
