Ingredients

  • 3 large potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup cooked ham, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour to make a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.

  2. Slowly whisk in the milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

  3. In a greased slow cooker, layer half of the potatoes, ham, onion, and cheese. Pour half of the milk mixture over the top. Repeat with the remaining ingredients, ending with a layer of cheese.

  4. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 4-6 hours or until the potatoes are tender.

  5. Once cooked, sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve hot.
