Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 leeks, trimmed and thinly sliced
  • 2 cups grated Gruyere cheese
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a greased baking dish, arrange a layer of potatoes followed by a layer of leeks. Sprinkle with cheese, garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper. Repeat until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.

  3. Pour the cream evenly over the layers.

  4. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Then, remove the foil and continue baking for another 15 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

  5. Allow the gratin to cool for a few minutes before serving.
