Preparation: 10 minutes
Cooking: 20 minutes
Total: 30 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 filet mignon steaks
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Season the filet mignon steaks with salt and pepper on both sides.

  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over high heat. Add the steaks and sear for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or cook to your desired doneness. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

  3. In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the balsamic vinegar and honey. Stir and cook for 5 minutes until the mixture thickens into a glaze.

  4. Add the butter to the glaze and stir until melted and well combined.

  5. Return the filet mignon steaks to the skillet and coat them with the balsamic glaze. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, basting the steaks with the glaze.

  6. Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.

  7. Serve the filet mignon with the rich balsamic glaze spooned over the top.
