How To Make Simmered Squid

Ingredients

  • 1 lb squid, cleaned and cut into rings
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large pan, heat the cooking oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.

  2. Add the sliced onions and cook until translucent.

  3. Add the squid rings and cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until they start to turn opaque.

  4. Pour in the chicken broth, soy sauce, fish sauce, and oyster sauce. Stir well to combine.

  5. Bring the mixture to a simmer and reduce the heat to low. Cover the pan and let it simmer for about 40 minutes, or until the squid is tender.

  6. Stir in the sugar and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.

  7. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions.

  8. Serve the simmered squid hot with steamed rice or noodles.
