  • 1 lb ground beef
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices of cheese (optional)
  • Condiments and toppings of your choice (lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, etc.)


  1. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into balls.

  2. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.

  3. Season each beef ball with salt and pepper on one side.

  4. Place the beef balls on the hot skillet, salted side down.

  5. Using a sturdy spatula, firmly press each ball down to flatten it into a patty.

  6. Cook the patties for about 2-3 minutes, until a crust forms on the bottom.

  7. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on the other side.

  8. If using cheese, add a slice to each patty during the last minute of cooking, allowing it to melt.

  9. Remove the patties from the heat and let them rest for a minute.

  10. Toast the hamburger buns, if desired.

  11. Assemble the burgers by placing each patty on a bun and adding your preferred condiments and toppings.

  12. Serve the smash burgers immediately and enjoy!
