How To Make Saffron and Caramelized Onion Tart

Ingredients

  • 1 pre-made pie crust
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 pinch of saffron threads
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a pan, melt butter and caramelize onions over medium heat until golden brown.

  3. Roll out pie crust and transfer to a tart pan, trimming the edges. Pierce crust with a fork.

  4. Sprinkle saffron threads over the caramelized onions and spread mixture evenly on the pie crust.

  5. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, salt, and pepper. Pour over onion mixture.

  6. Bake for 45 minutes or until filling is set and crust is golden brown.

  7. Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
