How To Make Spiced Walnut Cake with Pomegranate Molasses Frosting

Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup ground walnuts
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- For the frosting:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp pomegranate molasses
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tbsp milk
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 8-inch round cake pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, ground walnuts, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.

In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, pomegranate molasses, softened butter, and milk until smooth and creamy.

Once the cake has cooled, spread the pomegranate molasses frosting evenly over the top.
